Beach Travel Essentials

At the start of the year, all that we look forward to is to grab the new calendar and check out on the days when we can plan a holiday. We all love holidays, don't we?
Travel can mean different things for different people. Some may travel in luxury, while others may prefer backpacking. Few love Rocky Mountains and hilly terrains, while others love the feeling of sand underneath their feet. Your packing totally depends on where and how do you plan to holiday.
Since the weather is nice and bright, most of us are heading to the beaches, maybe planning long-weekend getaways or a romantic trip for this Valentine’s. Besides travelling light, most important point to consider is that you are comfortable in your choice of clothes.
We have made an ideal packing list to make your beach travel hassle free. Check out our travel essentials and start ticking right.

1) Dress

The dress is the most versatile piece of clothing a fashionista can have. Wear it long or short, team it up with jackets or scarves - the look changes every single time.

If you are going for a backpacking trip, we suggest you carry floral sundresses ( long or short) along with denim jacket cover-ups. However, if you are going for a luxury holiday, do pack slinky velvet slips along with cotton anti-fit dresses along to get your boho chic style right.

Get your party quotient right with a maxi dress in sequins or velvet. Pair it with gold or silver statement accessories and let your disco diva take over. Maxi dress is one of our favourite resort wear.

2) Shorts

Denim shorts is a must have for the beach holiday. Get them in dark blue, light blue and black shades. Pick up the hot shorts or a Bermuda shorts, whatever suits your body type. Opt for distressed fabrics to turn the trendometer high.

For the relaxed fits, opt for cargo shorts in beige, olive green, white or navy blue. If you want the shorts to do the style-talk, opt for "hot pants" in bright hues of fuchsia, neon green, lemon yellow or tangerine.

Team them with white tunics or kaftans or crop tops. Layer the top with a plaid shirt or jersey cover-up to amp up the cool vibes.

3)Skirts

What is a beach holiday without some twirling of the skirt in water?
Pack your brightest and colourful long skirts for the beach holidays. In case you don't have one, fear not. Most of the beaches, in India and abroad have shopping arcades that sell these colourful skirts. Team them with casual tees for relaxed look or crop tops in silks for a glamorous look. Most of the markets sell backless silk choli-tops that can be teamed with these skirts.

Shopping on mind, eh?

Do not forget to pack in mini skirts for the clubbing scene. It could be your classic denim mini or a sequin skirt or a tasselled skirt.

4) Basic Tee-shirts

Let’s go back to the basics, shall we? Pick up solid coloured plain Tee-shirts in white, blue, black, grey, yellow or red. They are your best companions in fashion, much like the green chutney in food; it pairs along with anything you can think of, be it a skirt, shorts, layer a slip dress.

Additionally, stripes and logo tee-shirts are welcome too.

5) Bikini

"It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka-dot bikini, That she wore for the first time today.”
Hear ya, hear ya! We are back in the 50’s with the yellow polka dot bikini song. How about you?
Hail the bikini body - all shapes and sizes allowed.

You can select either a two-piece bikini or a monokini, depending on your body structure. Body categories frustrate us all the time, they turn out to be more irritating while shopping for the perfect swimsuit. Here are some hacks to make you get that one look that you have always dreamt of. - If you have broad shoulder we suggest that you opt for a solid coloured suit with printed panels along the side. This will help create the look of a perfect hourglass figure. - If you have a heavy upper body, go for an underwire swimsuit, which would give you the most flattering shape.

- If you have a heavy bottom, look for designs with solid bottoms and printed tops.

For the rather shy damsels, use cover-ups like Kaftans; this flowing silhouette will dramatise yours beach look. You can choose from different types of kaftan depending on your body type.

6) Hat, Aviators & more

Sun hat is a must for beach holiday unless you want to suffer from migraines and get some tan. The brim of the hat should have a width of at least 3 -4 inch to protect your ears and eyes from the harsh sun. The ideal material for hats would be straw, raffia, cotton and hemp. Beige, olive and khaki hats look super chic on any outfit.

Right from Deepika Padukone to Priyanka Chopra, celebrities are often seen wearing sunglasses especially aviators. Turn on your Bollywood charm, wear a classic aviator or go retro with white glares. If the trend is what you love, then pick up colourful shades.

Pack few colourful scarves along. You can either tie the scarf on your hair or wrap it around your neck or use as a coverup. A bottle of sunscreen, lip balm, hair band /bandana, power bank and a book are just a few extra’s to make your beach holiday hassle free.
